Introduction to
Safari/African Designs

Throughout the Indian culture, women based their worth on the artistry they could produce. They would decorate a wide variety of items for their family and for trading.

Some tribes, such as the Cheyenne, considered a woman's creativity as prized as a warriors' achievements. Most Indian women however, would paint mostly abstract or geometric designs. Traditionally, the men painted the animals.

The deer hide parfleche was the "suitcase" of the Plains Indians. Traditionally, the "parfleche" was painted with geometric designs. Many of Zona's designs are inspired by the parfleche.

We invite you to browse and enjoy Zona's many and varied Western/Southwest

designs. As with all of Zona's products, each piece is a individual work of art, crafted by Zona's own hand. All designs will vary slightly. Each hand painted design is signed and dated.
